Loving God with Your Whole Life

Think about about tomorrow?

    ESV,2001

4 “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 5 You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.6 And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. 7 You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. 8 You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. 9 You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

Loving the one true God isn't just a private feeling‒it's a full-time commitment to God in all aspects of your life.

Loving God Requires Knowing Him (vv. 4-5)

4 “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 5 You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.

You cannot truly love someone you do not truly know, at hindi mo kayang pagkatiwalaan ang sinuman kung hindi mo talaga siya kilala.

The command to love God comes immediately after the command to know who God is: “Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one.”

Know God

God is One, and is fully unified in all of His being. God is not divided into multiple gods or competing parts. Trinity: one God in being, three distinct Persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Love God

    • With All of Your Heart (Le'vav, Lev)
      • Noong panahon ng mga Israelita they think that all of humans intellectual activity takes place in the heart.
      • Kaya ang meaning para sa kanila ng to love God is to love him with all of your will, thoughts, emotion, and with all of your life choices. - your whole inner being.
      • Loving God with all your heart means loving Him with your whole being–everything that is within you.
    • With all of Your Soul (Nephesh)
      • In hebrew mas nagagamit ito as means neck, throat, breath, or the whole existence of the person–everything you are.
      • To love God with all of your soul is to love Him with all of your existence. Yung bawat pag hinga mo at bawat pag bukas ng iyong bibig you love Him.
    • With all of Your Might (Me'od)
      • Ang meaning talaga ng Me'od ay very or much. Its an adverb. So it is something that modifies the verb.
      • For example noong nilikha ng Diyos ang mundo sinabi niya na ito ay very good sa Gen 1:31,
      • But heres what it means, loving God with all of your might is loving him with everything you possess and everything you are capable of giving.

Dahil nga ang love dito ay hindi affection or emotion, ito ay action, na kinakatawan ng tatlong bagay: your heart, soul, strength/might.

      Heart — everything within you.

      Soul — everything you are.

      Might — everything you have.

Because our love for God is our response for His love.

Loving God Requires Abiding in His Word (v. 6)

And when we talk about heart ang ibig sabihin nito ay ang buo mong pagkatao.

If we truly love God, His Word cannot remain confined to Sunday; it enters Monday.

Loving God Requires Service (7-9)

7 You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. 8 You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes.

Loving God is displayed through loving your neighbor

Loving God is displayed through loving your neighbor and not taking a grudge against them, dahil we manifest our love for God with loving other people, and it starts with our Family and to those people around you.

Serving God is Proclaiming Him in Your Family

  • When afraid → show/teach them to trust God.
  • When sinned → the parent teaches repentance and God's forgiveness.
  • A family experiences difficulty → they pray and apply God's promises.
  • A child asks a question about life → the parent brings God's Word into the conversation.
  • A family makes decisions → they consider what Scripture teaches.

Serving God is Proclaiming Him to Yourself

Proclaiming it to yourself means, araw-araw na pagpapa-alala at pagpapakita kung sino ka ayon sa sinabi ng salita ng Diyos.

8 You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes.

9 You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

That is the principle of verses 8 and 9. and this last point

Serving God is Proclaiming Him Through Your Life

Loving God is Abiding in Him with everything that is within you and serving Him with everything that is with you. Ibig-sabihin, Loving God is letting Him governs your private life, family life, and even your public involvement.

That is giving Him your whole life, your whole existence, your whole purpose in life.

Anong Plano mo bukas?
