My Philosophy of MInistry
Introduction
Philosophy of ministry is a biblically established system of philosophical concepts, regarding my role as a pastor in my community church.
Rationale
My philosophy of ministry is to glorify God through a biblically established and Christlike concept in every aspect of my ministry, evangelism, leading, worship, and also in discipleship for the building up of the Body of Christ.
My Conversion
In the Year 2014, I was working in a Bank, and also a member of an amateur band in Rizal. I know in myself that I am worth dying in hell after death because of the kind of life that I lived, and my understanding of going to heaven is to do good work. At that time my source of happiness is the fame that I get as I perform and in material things.
Until 2015, when my friend invited me to attend a Christian worship service. After the worship service, the Pastor talked to me and ask, "If you’re going to die right now where you are sitting, where do you think you are going?", and I confidently answered "Hell". By God's grace, through Pastor Enrique Rey, the first bible verse that I understand is John 14:6, I understand that Jesus is the only way to the Father who is in heaven. And through faith, I am saved not by works
(Eph 2:8-9), because I am a sinner and I fall short of the glory of God (Rom 3:23).
After several months, I can confidently say to myself that I am a true believer and I have eternal life (John 3:15), and I know that I believed and received Jesus Christ as my Lord and my savior, and I am born again into a new family as a child of God(John 1:12).
Since then, I am enlightened that I am formed by God's hand that I might declare His praise
(Isa 43:21) and created for His glory and will live in every strength that Christ has given me(Phil 4:13) for the Glory of God (1 Cor 10:31).
My Call to Ministry
I believe that I received a calling from God for full-time service in His ministry. I received this calling when I heard the preaching about “surrendering oneself to God”, and I am convicted deep inside me and made a prayer that I want to surrender myself to God with the talent that I have and use it for His glory. Then I serve in the ministry as a musician, and I was elected as a youth leader of our local church.
I heard God’s calling again when I read “(Mark 16:15-16)” and “Matt 28:18-20”, on that day also I heard again preaching about “being a soldier of Christ in this world through sharing The
Gospel”, and I meditate on it the whole day until I was convicted and prayed to God “Lord I want
to be Your soldier”, and started sharing the gospel first to my two siblings.
I believe that I am called into a much more specific task for the body of Christ as a Pastor, by the confirmation of my pastor, and of our leaders(pro 11:14) by laying their hands on me, before they sent me to Conservative Baptist Seminary Asia. I believe that I received a gift from God that
I can use in pastoral ministry to serve others and for the building up of the Body of Christ(1 Pet 4:10), and this is my desire to serve in ministry.
My Understanding of My Pastoral Call
To Glorify God and make disciples(Matt 28:19), and preach the gospel to every people, while rightly handling the word of truth(2 Tim 2:15) in every ministry I am entrusted with.
Worship
Worship is an act with our voices and feelings (Col 3:16) according to spirit and in truth(John 4:24) to glorify God.
Discipleship
Discipleship is making people a follower of Jesus, teaching them to observe all that He has commanded (Matt 28:19-20), and also teaching them to pass all of the truth of the scripture into another man that can teach others also (2 Tim 2:1).
Evangelism
Evangelism is to proclaim the Gospel to people (Mark 16:15) and be a witness of Jesus Christ in every place ( Acts 1:8) so that they may believe and may be saved (Mark 16:16)
Fellowship
Fellowship with the believers is a devotion to one another(Acts 2:42) to encourage and build up one another in Christ(1 Thess 5:11).
Missions and Outreach
I believe a Christian’s Mission is to be a witness for Jesus Christ(acts 1:8), preach the Gospel to all people(Mark 16:15) in every municipality and in every part of the world(acts 1:8), and reach out even the least-evangelized people group.
Conclusion
Salvation is by grace through faith alone in Christ Jesus. Being called as a pastor is a calling by the will of God(1 Cor 1:1). And everything that defines who I am in my life, ministry, and all of my works in the church is defined by the Holy Scripture, for the building up of the Body of Christ, and for the preaching of the Gospel to every people and nation.
